What’s my story?

Hi & Welcome! My name is Amy & I started ‘Rise Flow Rest’ so I can have somewhere to share everything I am passionate about! This includes jewelry, yoga and writing. I am sure more other creative projects will be added to that list as I continue on this path.

With jewelry - my first job ever was at a bead store when I was 15! I used to roller-blade there. It was a little shop around the corner from my parents house - this is when I fell in love with creating pieces. I mostly just put back beads and helped the owner. I still use pliers she gave me to this day, there is something magical and special about that to me. I have gone through many phases of starting and stopping jewelry, and I always seem to find my way back to it. I used to feel guilty about that. Then, the other day as I was talking about it, someone responded by telling me, “that is beautiful” and I got a fresh new perspective on it. I am so grateful to have this creative outlet and to be able to share it!

What ‘Rise Flow Rest’ means to me is like a mantra for my life. When I am at my best, I rise early and start my day with yoga or a walk. I currently live in Kansas City, Missouri but I spent most of my life in Phoenix, Arizona where I am from. I often miss the sunrise hikes I loved to take early in the morning. Now - I get to go for walks around Brookside or Loose Park and as the seasons change, so do the beautiful views I get to see! It was a nice trade off :) When I incorporate yoga classes into my little biz - Rise will be level one classes, more of a slow flow.

The Flow part is also about yoga and about going with the flow of life. I am someone who rides emotional waves - I can be high as a kite some days, other days totally neutral, and then there are days where it feels like a storm. I have learned over time - this is just who I am, nothing is wrong with me. If you’re into Human Design at all - I have emotional authority. If you get that - amazing & if not and this has you mildly interested in Human Design - reach out. I have a feeling this will become part of my offerings eventually. When I incorporate Flow yoga classes, these will be more intense than the Rise classes, think level two.

The last part - Rest - I have a hard time slowing down sometimes, especially if I am in a flow state. I have learned how critical rest is and am continuing to set time aside for it. When I add Rest yoga classes, they will be more restorative and meditative.

When it comes to the writing aspect of my life - I have overcome some really hard shit in my life & have learned so much along the way. I want to share that knowledge and experience with you. I like to share about what I have overcome, what I am working on, ah-ha moments I have, etc. I do this because in every addiction I have lived through - I always was seeking to learn from others stories. I have the privilege of being able to be the one who is sharing my story now. When it comes to overcoming an addiction to weed, I think that is one of the most important things I can talk about. I looked far and wide for other peoples stories and have yet to find more than a handful. I get to be the person I was looking for.

I love creative projects and you can always find me working on something. I am passionate about mindfulness and movement - these are pillars in my life and help keep me on track. I often say yoga is my antidepressant and I know walking has shifted my mindset more times than I can count. I hope you can find some helpful inspiration here &/or shop for something fun. Nice to meet you!

My Reason Why

Showing up for myself and those I love is really important to me. This is me with my husband Jeff, who is my number one cheerleader, the love of my life and my best friend. I would not be where I am without him, he is my other half and I am beyond grateful!!

I am constantly working towards being my highest self. I spent a long time in my addictions, and as I gained more awareness, I discovered what I am passionate about. I love making jewelry, practicing yoga (and soon sharing that), walking, deep meaningful conversations where we get uncomfortably vulnerable, coffee, hiking, human design, and of course spending time with my friends and family - I feel like this goes unsaid, but I am saying it anyways, just so you all know how much I love you!

My greatest gains in personal improvement have always come from moving outside my comfort zone - being willing to take responsibility / ownership and make changes. Seeking information and learning from others is how I spend most of my time - we can all teach each other something.
